Micronkote 206 is a solvent-based, PTFE solid film lubricant coating. It cures at 235 °C for 45 minutes into a bonded black film of 5-22 µm that lubricates metal-to-metal contact surfaces running at slow to moderate sliding speeds under medium to high loads.

Zinc phosphate in the formulation adds corrosion resistance. The cured film resists oils, greases and solvents, holds its lubricating function from -60 °C to +250 °C, and helps prevent fretting corrosion and seizure under sustained mechanical loading.

What is Micronkote 206?

Micronkote 206 is a black, solvent-based solid film lubricant coating built on PTFE. It is supplied as a liquid, applied by spray, brush, roller or dipping, and cured at 235 °C for 45 minutes to leave a bonded dry film 5-22 µm thick.

It is used where two metal surfaces slide against each other under load and a fluid lubricant is impractical or cannot be maintained. Micronkote 206 is part of the Micronkote dry film lubricant range.

How Dry Film Lubrication Works

1. Bonded solid film

PTFE and corrosion-inhibiting solids are carried in a resin binder. Once cured, the binder anchors them to the prepared substrate as a continuous 5-22 µm film.

2. Low-friction sliding layer

Under load the PTFE film shears in preference to the metal surfaces beneath it, giving a coefficient of friction of 0.05-0.07 under a 2,860 N rotating load.

3. Corrosion barrier

Zinc phosphate in the formulation adds corrosion resistance, so the same layer that lubricates also protects the contact face.

Surface Preparation and Application

Micronkote 206 is applied in three stages.

Surface Preparation

The surface must be free of dirt, oil and dust. Clean it and confirm that it is free from oil, then sandblast or phosphate it. Both methods increase the adhesion and the service life of the coating.

Product Preparation and Application

Mix the liquid coating thoroughly. If thinning is required, use only the diluent recommended by Nanografi. Apply with a pressure spray gun, brush, roller or by dipping, to a dry film thickness of 5 to 22 micrometres.

Curing

Cure the applied film for 45 minutes at 235 degrees Celsius.

Storage, Handling and Packaging

Storage temperature: +5 °C to +30 °C. Store the product in its original, tightly sealed packaging in a dry, well ventilated, fire-resistant area, away from direct sunlight, heat, sparks and open flames. Protect it from freezing and from extreme temperatures. After prolonged storage, mix the product thoroughly until homogeneous before use.

Shelf life: 12 months from the date of production.
